The Complete Guide to Interior Detailing

A clean interior is essential for a comfortable drive. Everything you need to know about keeping your car's interior spotless and fresh-smelling.

We spend hours inside our cars, yet the interior is often neglected in favor of a shiny exterior. A clean interior not only improves your driving experience but also preserves the vehicle's resale value. Here is your guide to interior detailing.

Step 1: Declutter and Vacuum

Always start by removing trash, floor mats, and personal items. Use a high-powered vacuum with a crevice tool to get deep between the seats, under the pedals, and along the door panels.

Step 2: Clean the Dashboard and Console

Use a microfiber cloth and a dedicated interior cleaner (avoid harsh household chemicals) to wipe down the dashboard, steering wheel, and center console. Use soft detailing brushes to clean out the air vents and tight seams.

Step 3: Treat the Upholstery

For fabric seats, use an upholstery cleaner and a soft brush to lift stains. For leather seats, a dedicated leather cleaner followed by a high-quality leather conditioner is essential to prevent cracking and fading from sun exposure.

Step 4: Crystal Clear Glass

Spray automotive glass cleaner onto a microfiber towel (not directly onto the glass to avoid overspray) and wipe the interior windows. This removes the hazy film that builds up over time from off-gassing plastics.

Step 5: Odor Elimination

A clean car should smell fresh. Instead of masking odors with heavy air fresheners, find the source of the smell. Baking soda or specialized ozone treatments work wonders for stubborn odors.
